As part of the continued expansion of the FERIT Mainframe Academy, we have officially launched the COBOL school, introducing students to one of the most important programming languages in enterprise computing.

The program started with an introductory session delivered by experts from CROZ and CROZ DACH, who provided students with insights into the relevance of COBOL in today’s IT landscape and its role in mission-critical systems.

The course is designed as a structured learning path, starting from COBOL programming basics, through data and file handling, and progressing towards advanced concepts and real-world data manipulation. Through a series of hands-on sessions, students will gain practical experience and a deeper understanding of how COBOL applications are developed and used on mainframe systems.

The lectures are delivered by industry professionals, ensuring that students are not only learning theory but also gaining valuable perspectives from real projects and production environments.

With around fifteen students enrolled in the first generation of the COBOL school, this initiative represents another important step in strengthening the mainframe ecosystem at FERIT and preparing students for careers in enterprise IT.
